Expert biography
Silvana Galderisi is a full professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Department of Mental and Physical Health and Preventive Medicine at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” (Caserta, Italy). She is President Elect of the Italian Society for Psychopathology (SOPSI), immediate Past President of the European Psychiatric Association (EPA), and Chairperson of the EPA Schizophrenia Section, the Standing Committee on Ethics of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA), and the WPA Working Group titled ‘Implementing Alternatives to Coercion in Mental Health Care’. Professor Galderisi is Chairperson of the Communications Committee and member of the Strategic Plan Task Force of the of the Schizophrenia International Research Society (SIRS).
Her main research interests include clinical, biological and social factors influencing schizophrenia outcomes, combining a wide range of aspects, including genetics, neurocognition, social cognition, neuroimaging, psychopathology and clinical psychology; and the clinical, neuroimaging, neuropsychological and genetic correlates of negative symptom domains.
