Expert biography

Roger S. McIntyre is Professor of Psychiatry and Pharmacology at the University of Toronto and Head of the Mood Disorders Psychopharmacology Unit at the University Health Network, Toronto, Canada. He also holds the position of Professor and Nanshan Scholar at Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou, China, Adjunct Professor at the College of Medicine, Korea University, Seoul, South Korea, Clinical Professor at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, New York, USA, and Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Neurosciences, University of California School of Medicine, Riverside, California, USA.

Professor McIntyre is Executive Director of the Brain and Cognition Discovery Foundation in Toronto, Canada and Director (as well as Co-Chair) of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) from Chicago, Illinois, USA. He is also a contributor to the Canadian Network for Mood and Anxiety Treatments (CANMAT) guidelines for the treatment of depressive and bipolar disorders.

Professor McIntyre’s research interests focus primarily on the characterisation of the association between mood disorders, notably cognitive function and medical comorbidity.  His work broadly aims to characterise the underlying causes of cognitive impairment in individuals with mood disorders and their impact on workplace functioning.
