Dr Mohammad Alsuwaidan is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Head of the Mental Health Unit at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital in Kuwait. He is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at both the University of Toronto, Canada, and Kuwait University, Kuwait, in the divisions of Brain Therapeutics and Philosophy, Humanities and Educational Scholarship. He has formerly served as Program Director for the Kuwait Board of Psychiatry, President of the Kuwait Psychiatric Association, Head of Department at the Kuwait Center for Mental Health and was Kuwait’s representative for mental health to the World Health Organization. Dr Alsuwaidan completed his psychiatry residency, mood and anxiety fellowship and medical education fellowship at the University of Toronto. He completed research training in mood disorders at Stanford University, California, USA, and Tufts University, Massachusetts, USA, and completed a Masters of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, Maryland, USA. He is certified in psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr Alsuwaidan is widely sought after as a speaker and educator in mood and anxiety disorders. He has received numerous awards and grants for his work, is an author on numerous scientific manuscripts, peer-reviewed journal articles and manuals and serves as a peer reviewer for several high-impact journals.
