Expert biography

Professor László Vécsei, Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS) is currently Professor of Neurology and Head of the Neuroscience Research Group at HAS and University of Szeged, where he is also President of the Doctoral Council. Additionally, he is General Secretary of the Danube Symposium for Neurological Sciences and President of the Standards and Evaluation Committee of World Federation of Neurology. He was Vice-President of European Federation of Neurological Societies and since 2017 he has been the Hungarian Delegate for the European Brain Council and the European Pain Federation.

His main research interests include multiple sclerosis, headache and extrapyramidal disorders (the role of kynurenines, neurofilaments, redox-disturbances, calcitonin gene-related peptide, pituitary adenylate-cyclase-activating polypeptide etc.).

Professor Vécsei has published around 660 articles (PUBMED), has 21.000 citations (MTMT) and authored 15 books.
